THINGS TO DO IN WARWICK

In the county of Warwickshire, sitting astride the river Avon, lies the ancient town of Warwick. Its central location with good motorway access and public transport services make Warwick easily accessible.

HISTORICAL WARWICK

Warwick Castle was originally built in 1068 by William the Conqueror and renovated in the 17th and 18th Centuries. A visit to the Castle will give an insight into the history of the town and its castle. It also houses a Horrible Histories maze for kids based on the best selling books. Much of the Old Town of Warwick retains the old buildings and the medieval building of Lord Leycester Hospital houses the Regimental Museum of the Queen’s Own Hussars. For an insight into the early history of the town try the Warwickshire Museum and St John’s House or take in the long history of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers at their museum on the first floor.

TOUR AND EXPLORE

There are many walking tours offered through the town with Blue Badge guides or how about joining a trivia trail. You can even get a birds eye view of the town by taking a Balloon flight from St Nicholas Park.

BEST WARWICK ATTRACTIONS

For those wanting to wander through beautiful gardens why not visit St Nicholas Park, which also has amusements for the kids, or The Mill Garden situated under the walls of Warwick Castle. Or Hill Close Gardens formerly used as an escape for those living in the town.

Try the peace and tranquility of a boat trip along the Saltisford Canal and visit Hatton Locks or along the River Avon.

For those who enjoy sporting fun the Warwick Racecourse situated in the heart of the town.

For the children why not try the Children’s Play Village, Hatton Country World or New House Farm Pumpkins.

TRIPS FROM WARWICK

A two hour journey from London or under an hour from Birmingham, why not visit the area on a coach tour taking in Stratford upon Avon, Leamington Spa, Oxford and the Cotswolds? You could even take a trip to the Nearby Charlecote Park with its 12th Century house and woodland walks.
